Laurence is dedicated to revealing the unique character of Davao through thoughtfully crafted projects. His journey began with a quiet yet purposeful exploration of innovative shelter solutions in the highlands of Mindanao, culminating in a project that became a finalist at the World Architecture Festival.
Laurence developed his career as a design architect for Architects61 Singapore for more than a decade before officially founding MLA at Home in 2020. He led the design for notable projects such as the Little India MRT Station (Singapore Design Award Platinum Winner, Shortlisted in World Architecture Festival), Rochor MRT Station (Singapore Design Award Gold Winner), NUS Research Lab Building (S.Arch Best Conceptual Design Award, SIA Design Award), Singtel Waterfront Theatre at Marina Bay (S.Arch Honorable Mention), and other resort and residential buildings in Vietnam, Myanmar and Malaysia.

In 2011 Laurence was awarded a full scholarship grant and subsequently completed Master of Advanced Studies in Urban Design at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zurich. Alongside fellow researchers, he performed immersive fieldwork investigations at 'favelas' in Rio de Janeiro. The case studies were used to develop a globally applicable design model aimed at improving mass housing programs. The resulting design strategies are presented in the book he co-authored, entitled "Cidade de Deus" (City of God), and is published by Ruby Press in 2013.
His dedication to the growth of Philippine architecture brought him to Manila where he spent some time as a design instructor at the De La Salle College of St. Benilde - School of Design and Arts. He also worked on several residential and masterplan projects under Lor Calma & Partners.

He won Bluprint magazine's Architectural Visionary Award, and Metrobank Art and Design Excellence Citation Award for Architecture. He also led a team on a grand-winning entry for UP-Diliman & Lafarge's design competition "Ang Pinakamagandang Bahay sa Balat ng Lupa".

A graduate of the University of the Philippines-Diliman College of Architecture, Laurence bagged best thesis award for his study on emergent structures and its design applications to the built environment.
